    Default Severe Aortic Stenosis

Found out yesterday that the aortic valve in my heart has gotten worse and it's pretty jacked up now.

    Seems I have 3 options.
    1. Do nothing, 2-3 years before I eat dinner with the Lamb.
    2. Get cracked open and get a valve replacement.
    3. Get a Transcatheter aortic valve replacement.

I prefer number 3 as it's the least terminal and invasive, not sure if the VA will cover it here in Northern NV. The VA here is a shithole. Most are either fresh out of med school or can't get work anywhere else. 75% are only here until they can transfer to a "good" VA hospital. There are a couple old Army / Navy doctors that are great. Most, like my PCP are useless.

So if y'all could do some of that prayerin thing that option 3 pans out it would be appreciated.

Do what your CV surgeon recommends as the best option, and asap. I recall back in physiology 101, aortic stenosis, one of the presenting symptoms is sudden death.

TAVR is the way to go but you have to go to a place that does a lot. Usually that is a big city VA.

    Godspeed.

Are you having chest pain, shortness of breath or passing out? If so you need to make a fairly quick decision. No real reason I can think of not to have it fixed either TAVR or open depending on what your CV surgeon believes is best in your case.
