Default Stealing catalytic convertors off chuech vans/bus

There has been a bunch of catalytic convertors off of church buses, vans etc around here. Even the town larger trucks have been hit. There is video tape of them hitting one church van- masked up and in and out in under 5 minutes. Just wanted to put the word out there.

There has been a spike in cat thefts around here too, especially off of Prisuses.

I've seen news stories of it happening to tons of vehicles in this area, also. Even down in my nice area (where we get a lot of car break-ins in general, since thieves drive to nice parts of town).

Back to this again? Happens every few years. They have some pretty rare metals in them that go for hundreds and thousands of dollars an ounce.

Yup...I see the thefts in the news here a lot the past five months or so. Meth-heads. I guess it is the salvage yards that buy the converters? Seems a stop would be put to that...just like copper was done in the past. Verification of identity needed and documentation.

Yep...you just have to put the "hurt" on the buyers and then it will slow down. Until then, it's worth the chance to them (buyers).

I had someone steal the cats off my truck when I was living in Austin. I was taking an exam at UT, and parked on the street. When I came back out about 45 minutes later, someone had sawzalled them off.... right in broad daylight.

Take 'em off. Run pipes to make up the length. Reinstall as and if necessary to pass emissions.
