thank you all for allowing me to come aboard.i saw gabe's reference to his bible group and wondered if it is primarily warriors.i was a boy soldier and a police officer for 34 years. several years ago i asked the lord if i could have a christian woman, and i have been blessed.i explained to her that i was damaged goods and i lived life as a very hard man ,i have been saved only a few years and will always be overwhelmed by the gift of saving grace.i have been in a number of bible groups over the last several years and have felt a little out of place with what we would call normal people.i live in a bible belt state with small towns and small police depts. lots of territorial issues between them, they will bag each other for tickets and misdemenors.i attempted to form a warriors bible group but with poor results. aside from prayer do you have any advice on how to get together with them? perhaps some of your group experience, thanks dan

Gabe,

I am in accord with all 7 of your points and with your addendum points A-F.

In fact I find them heartening and refreshing.

Allow me, however, to comment on your point 2:

I am not Christian; I am a Jew. And with honest respect to you, to Glock Nut and everybody else on this forum -- I do not accept Christ as my Saviour. Nor do I show much patience to those who would proseletyze me or my children. We are true to the G-d of our fathers. This is not a topic open to discussion with me and I have invariably found that it divides us when what we need is the opposite.

That said, I have come to a position that some, especially among liberal or non-Orthodox Jews, find odd and even irritating.

It is well known among those who want to know that the Christian treatment of the Jews down the centuries has been abominable. The Pope finally apologized to the Jews for the millenia of unending persecution. He called us his elder brothers. And he said that when a Christian persecutes a Jew, it is as if Christ was being crucified all over again.

I must admit that I was deeply affected by his words.

I do not however forget, nor do I forgive.

But while I believe it important to know history so as not to repeat it -- it is crucial to NOT LIVE IN THE PAST.

As a child, I have been routinely punched out and called, mudzi Juif, French for Dirty Jew (having grown up in Montreal, French Canada). I took this as normal. What I didn't know, then however, was that while I suffered this relatively minor inconvenience, members of my own family were getting a rather more strenuous demonstration of Christian love in Hitler's Europe.

Just so you'll know where I'm coming from. I don't believe in pulling punches.

Now, however, I find that the country that I love -- and that has treated its Jews better than any other in history -- that this, my adopted country is now being torn apart from within by those who consider themselves so enlightened that they are above the "mythology" and the "primitive superstition" of Christianity, and therefore of the Jewish basis of Christianity.

And I find that we are embroiled in a fight against Islam worldwide, for our survival and for the very survival of western civilization. The American civilization that has done more to elevate and to free mankind and to allow anyone to prosper who would make the effort.

The civilization built on Judeo-Christian values. If these values are not the basis for our blessed society, then please point me to a society of similar accomplishment based on some other value system.

There is also the undeniable fact that American Christians and America itself are different than the Christians of Europe. I have no respect for those who deny the truth and I'm not about to. Anti-semitism has always existed in America and it exists today. But the extreme forms, although they also exist here -- these have never been able to take root in America.

I have stumbled upon an organization called TOWARD TRADITION founded by Rabbi Daniel Lapin. He works to unite conservative Jews and conservative Christians to fight the degeneration of values engulfing us.

He points out in a remarkable essay that the Puritans who arrived here first, and who founded universities like Harvard and Yale and the other Ivey-league schools -- that these people were lovers of Judaism. They required their students to study the Old Testament in HEBREW! The students had to learn Hebrew and then study the bible in its original language.

I've always wondered where the name, Increase, came from, as in Increase Mather, one of these Puritans. Rabbi Lapin explains it. His mother knew Hebrew. She knew that the name Joseph means to increase. So she named her son Increase, from the Hebrew, bypassing the English version, Joseph.

Just Google www.towardtradition.com to find and read the essay. There is much more in it, especially for Jews who are mindlessly suspicious of believing Christians. It's a mind-blower!

And he points out that American Christians today do not hate Jews. They are our friends. And they provide more support to Israel, financial and by physically visiting her, than do most liberal Jews. While liberal Jews avoid the risk, the believing Christians put themselves on the line and bring themselves and their families to show their love and their support.

Now I had been learning this sort of thing on my own before finding Rabbi Lapin's group. But he sure supplied important historical data and he helped me to clarify my thinking.

If someone were to examine my voting record they would think that I am a fundamentalist Christian and not a Jew.

Christian theology is irreconcilable with the Jewish. Discussions about this lead to acrimony instead of to co-operation. So I have learned to avoid such discussions and instead to emphasize the underlying values that unite us.

And these values are close to identical. That is so long as one considers Orthodox belief among Jews and among truly believing Christians and not merely nominal Christians.

When the "Frenchies" use to give me a hard time, they'd often call me "Christ-Killer". I used to scream back, "I wasn't there and I didn't do it!"

It took me a long time, but I have finally realized something very important to me: The terrible history of Christian persection of Jews notwithstanding, that happened in Europe.

"American Christians weren't there and they didn't do it."

So, strange (and sad) to say, (so long as we leave theology alone), I feel more in common and often more comfortable, with believing Christians than with the majority of Jews.

I believe that in the fight to save America and western civilization you guys need us Jews, from whom you derived your religion.

And we Jews can never win this fight alone. We are 13 million in a world of over 6 billion. Christians comprise 2 billion in the world. Even though most Christians, as most Jews, do not really hold fast anymore to what I consider to be the real foundation values. You still have hundreds of millions in the world at least, who do. Between 40 and 60 million Evangelicals in the United States alone. And your values are basically our values.

I don't see how we can possibly win this fight without each other. I am for an alliance of equals, Jews and Christians, totally committed to driving back the darkness.

Just thought I'd declare myself, Gabe. I like this forum and I hope I'm still welcome. But unless it's tactically necessary, I don't like to sail under false colors.

Best wishes,

matis

Matis,

First of all - welcome. I don't think anyone at WT has ever tried to proselytize anyone here. ("Proselytize", for any liberals reading this, means to "convert" someone). But by the same token, I am not ashamed of my faith and it premeates everything I do from fighting to conducting business.

You can believe what you wish and I won't hold it against you. I think we should certainly stand together. In the end we will all know certain truths, no?

Jews have been severely mistreated in the past (though arguably not so much here in the US), but as you say, we must look at today. Faiths aside, we have a common enemy today.

Radical Islam and those who support them are our common enemy. Regardless of what the liberal media and their mindless myrmidons or political puppies proclaim, we all know what this struggle is about and in truth, we will fare much better fighting together than fighting each other. We may be Christian Warriors, but we welcome our Jewish Warrior brothers as well.

I am blessed to head my own organization and to be able to say what I please, when I please. So here goes -

I don't care what liberal communists in your country or mine think about Judaism or Christianity. We will live our lives, you and I, according to our beliefs, and influence by example those whom we come in contact with. The moment anyone (official or private) attempts to stop us, well...there is a biblical remedy for that as well. You'll find very few pacifists here in my home.

How anyone can be of the faith (either one) and be a liberal is inconceivable to me. Liberal Jews or Liberal Christians are liberal first and anything that comes after that first word is irrelevant because being a liberal of any sort condemns them regardless of what comes afterwards. They must hate me for saying that, but if they wish to stand in that line, it is a long one indeed.

On Israel - Gen 12:3 - I will bless those who bless you, and him who curses you I will curse. That settles it for me. I would rather face an army of Al Queda armed with a dull spoon than any curse from the Living God.

I think you will find some like minded folks here Matis. Some of them may be a bit zealous, but I think if this forum was run by a Jew, you would have the same thing. We are at the beginning of an interesting part of our history. A struggle is at hand. I think I have some inside info and we will win it. Stick around my friend.

Thanks, Gabe,

Your reply is what I'd hoped to hear.

As for Jewish Warriors, Orthodox Jews teach that one should choose a child's name very carefully as the choice will affect his life.

Well, I've been secular most of my life as were my parents. So who knew?

Matis is my Yiddish name, corresponding to the Hebrew Matisyahu, which is also my name.

Chanukah celebrates the revolt of the old Hasmonean priest, Matisyahu, who killed the Greek-Syrian Officer trying to force a statue of his god Zues into Matisyahu's synagogue. The old man collected his sons, ran for the hills and there they rallied the people to fight the Greek-Syrian army which had conquered Israel. They were the Maccabees, led by jis son, Judah Maccabee, Judah the hammer!

It took them awhile, but they defeated the mighty Greek-Syrian army and drove them from Israel. Matisyahu was no pussy!

Well, it seems that people, especially Jews, criticize me for being not conciliatory enough. Basically I'm criticized for not backing down, for driving a hard bargain, for being stubborn and so on. And of course my appreciation for guns really upsets them.

Before I even knew who my namesake was, I was like him.

My 17 year old daughter, being a chip off the old block, ain't no pushover, either.

Indeed it will take Christian Warriors together with Jewish Warriors to beat back this enemy.

So thanks, Gabe, for the invite -- I WILL stick around.

As nor do I or some other members of WT whose beliefs do not exactly correspond to Gabe's.

That however is not an issue as we are all welcome here as we are of like minds even with our different belief structures.

Thanks Gabe for creating WarriorTalk.com I love this forum and especially the Christian Warrior section. Keep the Holy Spirit and your Glock (or 1911, Sig, etc.) and there will be hope for our civilization yet.
