There is some discussion of it in the quad stack thread but I figured it needs it's own. Looks very interesting.
Has anybody done one of these before?

I saw that picture and assumed it was a barrel swapable (?) AK. The idea of a breakdown AK seems pretty innovative, and I've never heard of anyone doing one before. I will be following this thread with interest ..

Yup..I saw it. Its a great idea as long as whomever they contract with to make it does a good job and doesn't F it up.

What is the benefit of a take down AK that I assume allows you to remove the barrel? For transport/storage you can already get to about 26" with the stock folded. Is it a solution in search of a problem?
Right now I am trying to see what a removable barrel on the AK will give you versus a high cost for the installation of it. For non-automatic arms the heat issues requiring a barrel change are not so great. It could be meant for switching calibers, but then you also need to switch the magazines which is probably doable.

In the video they're presenting it as a takedown feature, not for any quick change. As-is so far, it would bring the disassembled storage length to 16". The new gas system they describe will allow takedown without field stripping it first, which would be pretty impressive. I don't see a need for it myself, but others may. If they keep it under $2k it's not far from the cost of some high-end custom builds.
I guess it would be nice if you needed to put a rifle in a backpack or had to store it in a small place. It now compares to the AR-15 in length broken down into two pieces, and offers somewhat easier cleaning. Nice concept, but not really a selling feature for me so far.
it is a solution to a problem for me. I prefer to go everywhere I can by motorcycle. I was just reading that in the the next two weeks, Randy Harris is having a little training group get together. As usual, I was thinking of riding to it (about 5 hours). I really don't want to take my underfolder but dealing with the fixed stock on the bike is a PITA. This is the perfect solution for me since it will easily fit on the bike, in a back pack, and maybe even in a locking saddle bag.
It will also store quite discretely just about anywhere in an office or the like. I think it's a great idea, so good I might actually buy it (and for me that's really saying something!).

Eh, I'd rather have a TSD Glock in my shoebox...
But where o' where could this alleged folding stock be?
