Default Browser Warning At Top Of Page

I just started getting an ominous warning at the top of WT pages telling me my browser is out of date, has security flaws, and may not display all features. I don't get this warning from other sites. It wants me to click a link that would take me to browxerupxate.xxx. (I've inserted enough "x"s that the link shouldn't work.)

What is this all about? Why is WT trying to direct me to a site to "update" my browser?

    'Scuse my paranoia...

Sounds like you have some mal-ware.

Lol there is no malware. That's just a little snip of code that lets you know if you are using an old browser. It should only pop up for maybe Internet Explorer 6, or old versions of Firefox, Opera, etc...

Indeed, if you are running such old versions, it would be better to get updated!

I was only getting it at WT, which is why I didn't suspect something nasty on my machine. Plus, I'm running a Mac, which is generally less prone to such things. Anyway, I updated Firefox and the warning has now gone away. (My settings do not allow automatic installs of anything, including updates.)

Thanks for the suggestions. Is this a great forum, or what???

Firefox is on a rapid release cycle, seems to have a new version every month, not surprised there.
