I haven't checked their prices for 10 years, so my statements on value may be out of date.
Fortis uses bone-stock industry-standard movements (as do many "Swiss" watch companies), generally with little additional value added in the movement, and places them in well-engineered good-quailty cases with dials/hands with strong styling. I particularly like their retro pilots watch stylings. When last I looked at their prices, they were quite reasonable values for what they delivered, and for a couple of years I wore a Fortis 24-hour pilot's watch as my beater. The one weakness I always was concerned about was the crystal, which in the models I had seemed to be a bit under-engineered.
I agree with Speed is Life's assessment that once you get into their more complicated offerings, there may be better value from other brands.
