  1. Default Michael Janich Seminar in Longmont, CO - 18 June 2011

18 June 2011, Longmont, Colorado – Martial Blade Concepts Critical Skills Seminar

In this unique seminar, hosted by Trigger Time Gun Club, Michael Janich will present instruction in the critical skills of his acclaimed Martial Blade Concepts curriculum. This one-day course will focus on the “go-to” skills of MBC’s standard-grip knife system and the methods of applying these skills to defend against a broad range of common street attacks. Students will also learn high-speed knife deployment skills, reflex training drills, and solo training methods to provide a solid, comprehensive foundation in skills of defensive knife use.

Students should bring purpose-designed training knives (ideally folding trainers that closely replicate your carry knife) and eye protection.

This seminar will be conducted at Trigger Time Gun Club, 3575 Stagecoach Road Longmont, CO 80504. Tuition is $100.00 and a $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a spot. Enrollment is limited. To register, contact Michael Janich at 303-995-8848 or info@martialbladeconcepts.com.

    Stay safe,

    Mike

I may be able to go to this... will be visiting Colorado at the time on vacation.

I plan on carrying a large cold steel folder like an AK-47, Voyager XL, or G-10 Espada (Large) as my defensive blade, but none of these are available as training knives. Any suggestions on what to use for this class?

  4. Ideally, you want something that replicates your carry knife in size and mechanical function, yet allows safe contact with a partner. Cold Steel does not make folding trainers, so you can either go with a non-folding trainer of a similar size and shape (which limits your ability to practice deployment-to-contact drills), or "drone" a live blade, grinding and polishing the edge and point to a safe thickness.

I look forward to training with you!

    Stay safe,

    Mike

    Mike,

I just want to thank you for an incredible learning experience. Based on your reputation I went in expecting a lot. You far surpassed any expectations I might of had. The quality of instruction was superb, that includes your assistant intructors. Now I have to get to work and make it another tool I can rely on.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the training and that I lived up to your expectations. I hope to train with yo again sometime soon.
