Default Serpa Holsters Make The News (AGAIN)

Currently the holster design is being blamed as a contributing factor to this self-inflicted GSW. Personally, I think it's a faulty design and have approached my superiors requesting Serpa holsters be unapproved for duty use at my agency and not be allowed on our agency range.

According to Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, a group of officers was in training when the officer tried pulling his gun out of his holster and it accidentally went off.

The word group indicates a singular item... a group was training...

Plural would be ...the officers were training...

I had a Serpa for some pistol, and it's been so long
I can't remember which one. I saw the flaw for me
    & trashed it.

Edit to add: I still have it, but I just put it in the
trash. I wouldn't want my son to dig that pistol
out of my safe when I'm dead & gone, and get
hurt with it (the holster, that is).

"A group..." is singular. So, "was" is correct.

Acevedo says the bullet went through the officer's thigh and out through his ankle.
WOW! That is one nasty wound! The whole leg was damaged.

That was my take, but there are some grammatical quirks with english relative to conjugations of to be that I do not understand.

Grammatical foux pas aside. Serpas should never be issued for legit war fighters. I've owned one about a decade ago and it was pure shit and will never come back

When you can get a 5.11 Thumbdrive or a safariland 7377 at the same pricepoint WHY would you buy a friggin serpa? Both the alternatives are MUCH better designs (safari uses the ALS system found in their higher end holsters) and will fit in the budget of the cheapest cop.

But who cares right? the holster only houses the most important piece of your kit outside your brain housing. ;)
