Default As China's wealthy grow in numbers, so do their protectors

While this might not translate to actual jobs for WTers, I think it is an interesting sign of the trend worldwide for security specialists. In fact, if I read the article correctly, you can major in this in a Chinese university:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...091904175.html

    I did find this part...interesting:

Chen said about 40 percent of his bodyguards are women. One, Chai Chang, 25, stands just 5 feet and 4 inches tall, and weighs 121 pounds. But she is trained in martial arts and freestyle fighting, and says, "When we practice, I fight two guys, no problem."

I would imagine that there could well be a large market for Suarez International.

Time for some 'Chinese' American to sieze the opportunity perhaps?

The Chinese are capitalists, if nothing else. ;) :)

Training would probably be in martial arts only. I doubt anyone could get away with training in China in that regard, especially an American teaching a class in regards to firearms.

Only the super wealthy would probably get away with gun ownership and that is because they know who to bribe.

    OK.
But just one percent of 1.5 billion is still 15 million! :D ;)

    Yeh I edited my post.

But still, IMO a lot of people in China are just too dull to be body guards. Anyone who has some common sense are probably the ones needing the protection.

It'd be interesting to see how gun "rights" (unofficially of course) evolve to suit the needs of the extremely rich.

I would be interested to know more about the gun rights in China? - Just for interest?

By coincidence, I have a great friend who is there right now, touring China, Tibet and then he will go on to Nepal.

I should have asked him to enquire.

Prohibition laws are only as effective as the willingness of the populace to obey said laws.

Also, if only the wealthy and politically connected are able to own firearms......well, aren't they also the ones who would make the best clients?

    HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

An understatement, if I ever saw one from you, brother.

Money and wealth trumps any so called "laws" on the books.

Randoms historical trivia; it was some SE Asian based tycoons of Chinese descent who's networks kept the japs logistically supplied throughout WW2. Without their networks, Japan's war effort would have collapsed much earlier.

I agree, but the factor that I see becoming an issue is the instructors going over there. Being financially worthwhile and whatnot.

A lot of handsome bribes would have to be paid on many levels.

Personally I would not know where to begin stabbing at it. IMO the best solution would be marketing in China (a joke in itself) for them to come to the US. Organizing a venue in China as well as all the logistics and connections would be a nightmare.

    OK.
