    DaveJames,
Could you provide me with more info, - reference your Rossi set-up.
I have 2 Rossi 92s ( both .44-40 ) and wish to transform one into what you have mentioned here.
One problem I'm finding, is that sites that offer Ghost rings, Scout scope mounts etc, don't list the Rossi. Winchester/Marlin ok.
I don't want to risk ordering a mount, only to find it doesn't fit !
    Regards,
    Anthony.

Anthony, the scout mount I used came from Wild West Guns in Alaska, my smith here in Virginia ordered it and fitted it to the bbl, it has the added advantage of setting on top of the iron sights, and with QD rings on the scope you could use the irons if need be.I also had him order the AO peep, and drilled and tapped the bolt, to have it mounted, thought about one of Marbles tang sights, or even the Williams model 57 peep, but liked the AO better.I found a glove loop/gunfighter loop on auction arms web site, and had him cut it down and fit it,laced the bottom part with rawhide, an idea I borrowed from Clint Smith. The front sight was milled flat and a fire sight installed, had him do a complete internal polish, replaced the magizine plug with one made from stainless, relieved the forearm and glass bedded it, refitted the mag screw and tube band. stripped the monkey wood and refinished with an Tru-Oil base hand rubbed in. I have tried the Simmons scout/pistol scope,it worked okay. Switched to the Leup scout scope, and tried the AROG, went back to the Leup scout. Keep it loaded with the 180 grain Federal's and have never changed. Have used my favorite 145 grain silver tips a few times but like the 180's better, so far it has accounted, for 3 hogs, 5 deer, and help put a stop to a day light hold up.

The movie is TRUE GRIT and he has the rifle in one hand and pistol in other. I always wanted a pair like that.

    Dave James,
Thanks for the info. Just out of curiosity, have you clocked the velocity of your favorite 180 grn load ?
Seems like a real neat set-up you've got there.
    Regards,
    Anthony.

I like the ghost ring idea, but the old buckhorn is a fast sight too. I've shot a lot with aperture sights, so am used to them, but I grew up hunting with the buckhorn and still like it a lot.--Leigh

My lever gun is a .44 Magnum. It lacks the longer range ballistics of the 30-30 but will make hits quite easily out to 100 yards. The .44s aren't as commonly used for hunting where magazine restrictions are a factor so most come with 10+ round magazine tubes.

I like that lever actions are slim which allow them to fit in more places than a bolt or semi auto and as Gabe mentioned they aren't that expensive so if one is kept in a vehicle and it was stolen it wouldn't be as much of a loss.

It seems like the Eotech sight would work well on a short barrel lever gun. Has anyone tried this combo?

Anyone have experience with the Winchester 94 in .44 magnum with the 16" barrel? I'm considering buying one next time Big 5 has a sale on it. Also, what is the magazine capacity for this gun? Thanks.

The mag capacity for a Rossi .357 with 16" brl is 8.
As the .357 is the same length as a .44, I imagine capacity should be the same. 2 rounds less than the 20" brl.
