So I decided to build my own; consider this is the before any red dots or buis, just put l the last piece on today. It has a faxon 16" barrel and gas block, gwacs lower, alg act trigger, a jp enterprises captured recoil spring, and a bcm hand guard.

It weighs in around 6 pounds.

The gun has played a critical role in history. An invention that has been praised and denounced... Served Hero and villain alike... and carries with it moral responsibility. To understand the gun is to better understand history.

Yep I couldn't afford the carbon fiber handguard, and it was my first build. So I went with a simpler BCM barrel nut and handguard.

I looked into that handguard its double the cost of its aluminum counterparts and I'm thinking its a 1/4 weight difference juice wasn't worth the squeeze to me

Well I think it depends, on how light you want to make it. If I wanted to go that route I would've used a titanium barrel nut and BCG, along with other various bits and bobs.
That would have increased the cost immensely. Notice my trigger is not the one in the wwsd carbine, that was a cost savings.
This was my first attempt at building any rifle, and I don't want screw up an expensive component because of inexperience; so I made more compromises on the cost side.
