On the subject of sights. How about "Skinner sights"? These are made Tim Skinner, they have favorable reviews by members of the Marlin owners site.

There is also a lot of info on http://marlinowners.com/board/

I see the biggest things being a good, simple sling and a solid ammo carrier. No offense to people that have used them, but the nylon elastic ones are crap. It needs to be leather or a suitable synthetic, and should hold as close to a full gunload of ammo as possible.

The one I have for my Winchester Wrangler .44 holds ten rounds on it, which will top the rifle off completely if it's empty. I would post pic, but of course I don't have it with me, unfortunately.:(

I got mine from Rob Leahy at http://www.simplyrugged.com. He is good people, don't know if you can work something out Gabe, everything is hand made...

BTW, thanks for putting this up, Gabe!

So far, the search for synthetic lever action stocks has yielded very small selection. Ram-Line has their Trail-Tech line. Black and mossy oak camo for for Marlin 336. Black only for Winchester 94. http://www.ramlinestocks.com/ramstocks.html#Trail-Tech

Others may be out there, I'll keep looking.

I have a Ramline synthetic youth stock on my Marlin 336. The buttstock is hollow, one could potentially store some items inside (just remember to have a screwdriver handy). As a last ditch weapon, I doubt it would perform as a club.

I think that sights (XS/AO, DRC, that sort of thing), slings, light set-ups, and buttstock ammo carriers (I second the "make it leather" idea), should about do it...

    MPI stocks are SERIOUSLY expensive!!!

Talk to Andy Langolis about leather stuff. His work is top notch. And I think he is in AZ.

Sights? hard to go wrong with XS.

That is all ya really need.

    I confess, I copied Gary's rifle.

The butt cuff he used on his would be a good item for OST to carry. I don't remember who made it.

A bag that will hold 20+ rounds of ammo without spilling. I want to be able to reload simply by reaching to my side.

I will second the plug for Rob! He is a good person! I've even submitted pics of my buttstock carrier to him for making. It's leather around the stock, with a "plate" of canvas with canvas loops attatched for the "shellholder". I don't like verdigris on my brass, and the canvas allows for year round storage of ammo in my carrier this way. I just borrowed the idea from the prairie belt I use whilst hunting with my Marlin. He suggested elastic holders, I just don't like elastic as much as canvas....

Maybe if someone else is poking him for something like this, he'll get into offering it as a "regular" item....
