maybe yes, I find it easier to fire one handed when I'm moving to the left. But what with the riffle when going to the left?

Train hard, fight harder
Here in ROTC-land when we're practicing reacting to ambush, I'm always seeing people freeze in place and look around when they begin taking fire. These folks wast almost a whole second practicing getting dead when they should be getting cover.
The army teaches us young lieutenants to get to cover, fast, then worry about issuing orders--your joes should have found cover and started returning fire.
Cover, then fire.
CCW-wise, I guess shootin while getting off the X would be wiser.

Again, depends on terrain, cover (or lack thereof) and so forth. Sometimes its best to drop to your belly and return fire; other times its aholes and elbows firing every so many steps to provide some covering fire.
Or pop a grenade if possible.
IMHO, a CCW situation won't be much different, other than the cyclic firing rates - probably not against automatic fire, skill of the OPFOR probably isn't that great, etc.
The fact that the opfor is on their belly and firing into a well-defined firing lane can make dropping on the spot the best answer. Especxially if you have smoke grenades, as this can take a couple of secs to deploy.
Not a bad idea to A) practice both and B) have a plan as you enter the area just in case. And good COMMs.
