Default Raise your glasses for my Dad

    Gentlemen,

I’d ask that you raise a glass in honor of father.

He lost his fight with pancreatic cancer this morning.

He was a Great Father that was Married to one woman for 50 years.
A Vietnam Veteran that served his country honorably, and retired as a senior Non-commissioned officer in the US Army.
As a father he spent the most important thing a father can spend on your child - Time.
When I was growing up we spent all of our spare time hunting, fishing or shooting.

Shooting - Dad was a NM state skeet shooting champion. Dad volunteered as the manager of the Holloman AFB skeet range for decades. Through his efforts my Mom became the ladies NM skeet shooting champion, and I made it to the National skeet shooting team. In addition, Dad exposed and coached hundreds of people to skeet shooting. Dad was inducted into the NM skeet shooting hall of fame due to his accomplishments as a competitor, and his contributions to the sport.

Hunting - When I was growing up in NM, we rarely at store bought meat. We ate mostly wild game and fish. September was dove season. Those poor little dove didn’t stand a chance against the Bowen clan. The fall was spent chasing quail and the occasional trip to KS for pheasants behind Dads beloved pointers. The Bowen clan hunted every big game animal in NM except Mountain Lions and bears. I guess were a little wimpy not wanting to mess with the big teeth and sharp claw critters.

Fishing - Dad had a quadruple heart bypass surgery after his heart attack. 1 year after his heart surgery to the day, he was in Mexico fighting a Marlin. His other fishing adventures included catching sturgeon, salmon, lake trout, and pike in Alaska, Canada, and Mexico.

He was a good man that lived a full life.

I am truly sorry to hear about your loss! From the sound of it, he lived a full life full of adventures and unforgettable experiences. It is the only and best way to live life. We will raise our glasses to him here at Suarez.

    Always entertaining, mildly offensive
IANative: Indeed, when you grab Brent (or he grabs you), it feels like liquid unobtanium wrapped in rawhide... whereas Greg is just solid muscle wrapped in hate, seasoned w/ snuff and a little lead.

Will crack open a cold one shortly in his honor after I pull the burgers off the grill!

Best way to honor him will be to be like him
I rather you hated me for who I am than love me for who I ain't!
