    Default Community....

So, we all have a different idea possibly on what a community should look like in the new era ahead. I have my ideas but I want to hear yours. One of the reasons I bring this up is I had someone tell me that my targets I use “send a message, I would prefer to use a bullseye”..... I love this guy, he has been a part of my life since I was little and he gives me a ton of work. Honestly he’s the closest thing I have had to a grandpa since I was little. But, if things got as bad as some are saying, why on earth would you want to have a large community of people.... How can that do anyone any good. Just on my street, if guys saw my reloading bench they would probably turn me into to the atf just because that sends a message.

Its not so much community for the sake of community but rather one of like minded people with the same goals. Imagine the the things that would be possible if a who's who of WT all lived near each other. The more people you have the more you can do and the less stress on people. Its an interesting and in parts a complex issue. Imagine a group that wants go do a direct action on bad guys but are hesitant because they also don't want to leave their loved ones undefended.

    A few thoughts.

1 that just sounds like some typical Boomer fudd shit from a typical Boomer fudd (no offense intended to your pseudo grandfather).

2 community is vital to happiness and survival. No man can live as an island and no one is a one-man army. We have to sleep we have to be able to do things other than constantly attend to security, or shelter, or food for that matter. Community enables us to do different things while still meeting all of our requirements.

3 if the area you live in is of the mindset that something so simple as a reloading bench would trigger them into reporting you, all I can say is that you live in the wrong place.

4 community can refer just to your small close-knit group of friends and I suppose that's probably the most important meaning for the term. Once again if you live in a place where you cannot find like-minded individuals who are armed and prepared and willing to do violence to protect themselves and their families and who have moved past the stupid fudd lore, move.

5 community can and should also be further extended than that because it matters. The people in your city or town and even county are an extended form of your community and their general views approach to life and mindset matter. West Tennessee certainly has its fair share of fudds, but our community is strong. The spirit of volunteerism, individualism, self-responsibility, and Independence is strong here. The tolerance for tyranny and for big government is low. Our local and county officials know exactly where the electorate stands in those regards and just how far the electorate is willing to go. But aside from that I live in a town of just under 6,000 people. Our judges, our politicians, our officials that influence our day-to-day lives are all part of my community and are close enough that I can say they're more than just names I've heard. I know my chief of police and my fire chief. I know the fire marshal. I'm neighbors with the utilities director. And so on. That's community. If you live in a large enough area or a populous enough area it gets harder to have that level of control and intimate knowledge.

6 community also means involvement. The expanded view of community that is of your entire town or locality requires you to be involved. In a community we all volunteer and participate to achieve communal goals. That includes participating in elections, doing your part to make sure your neighbors are taken care of, and standing ready to respond to emergencies or disasters both through personal preparedness and through participation in volunteer emergency organizations such as volunteer fire departments, State defense forces, reserve deputy programs, etc. You really cannot have good community without thorough involvement.

Considering where things are going, I want my community to be more of a trusted, experienced Pirate Crew.

And I’m not saying i would even need to be the Captain.

But I want a select group of trusted people with a core set of skills, that they have actually used successfully “in the field:”

Firearms, blades, H2H, medical skills, fishing/hunting/dressing of game, ability to build a fire in the rain, basic handyman skills, some E&E/UC experience, etc.

I will be clear. I do not see any value in docile compliant or obedient friends. What are they going to do for you if things go poorly.

If things go poorly here...and I am not one of those doom and gloomers...you wont benefit much from a Caesar respecting church community, nor dudes who happen to live near you that will be horrified at your world view.

Who is going to help you violate the rules that caused you to gather a community in the first place?

If your community is not made up of shooters and killers...all you have is a group of comiserators. And that is as big a waste of time as prepper threads.

A girl at work the other day said if war breaks out shes coming to my place. She had a blank look on her face for a moment after I told her that if she didn't bring relevant skill sets that she would just be a piece of meat or wind up as protein. lol.

Yup, a lot of people out there just don’t get it. It’s amazing that she didn’t get all teary eyed & offended at your statement. Not that you’d give a shit either.

I remember a interview quite a few years back with Joe Mantegna talking about this very thing. He stated that some people at his house for a gathering once stated that if SHTF they were coming to his house because he had guns & knew how to use them.

His reply was very similar to Dorkface’s . He told them if they did that he may start shooting at them.
