Over 20 years ago I picked up a S&W 4567. Was a full sized 4506 frame and commander sized slide in .45 . Was supposedly a test run for a major PD that didnt get accepted. Gave me the idea and I combined the slide an frame from 659 and 669 pistols to get a full sized frame and officer sized slide. All of them worked like a champ and the short frame/ longer barrel was always popular at the gunshow allowing me to recoup the initial two gun investment to build the gun I wanted.

Got some odds and ends lying around. I'll try that. Nice of Smith not to go the way SIG did with the 224 and 229.

I really liked the old ramline mags they made for those with the side mounted coil spring, dont know if you can still find them or not.

MecGars work well, at least the 15 and 20 rounders. The 17 round flush fit gave me some trouble.

I always preferred them over the later 15 round mags since they didn't rattle.
In the days before the internet they were hard to find,
but I hit all the pawn shops in the neighborhood and stocked up
