Default I love auctions and estate sales

I really enjoy auctions and estate sales. You never know what you will find. Found a bunch of stuff this weekend at a local auction. I picked up some WW2 items such as a pre 1943 USMC duffel bag, a WW2 sea bag, a pair of USMC marked leggings, three WW2 belts and an army gym bag. Also purchased a Civil Defense Geiger counter from the early 60ís that actually works, and the best of all, two books. One was a first edition of volume 3 of the life of George Washington, written by John Marshall, published in 1804 in fair condition. The second is an 1802 edition of The Federalist in fair condition. Got it all for the very paltry sum of $15. Just never know what you will find. I am now reading the book about Washington and it is proving very interesting.

I do the same thing. Mostly junk and chick stuff but every once in awhile folks will part with righteous stuff. My recent find was ERDL pattern Vietnam era jungle fatigues in unissued condition for $3.

Seems I did pretty well concerning the First edition second volume of the Federalist. An original sold last year for $35,000. Seems the original is rather rare. Not bad for $1.55. All pages are there and relatively clean, especially for a 219 year old book.

One sale I went to had a Pelican case that is perfect for an AR pistol, ammo, and another handgun. It was at a chick garage sale and was labeled (literally) "Big Ugly Box." Price? $6.00 lol

Another sale had an LF&C spike/iron knuckle fighting knife from WW1 hanging on the wall. The kid said "$35.00 and I don't negotiate." I said "You drive a hard bargain." After a year, I sold it for $850.00.

Yeppers, you never know what you'll find. Modern day treasure hunting.
