There comes a time in every man’s life when he is called upon to do something very special for which he and he alone has the capabilities, has the skills, and has the necessary training. What a pity if the moment finds the man unprepared. —Winston Churchill

Whatever security perimeter existed at Kabul International appears to have collapsed with Afghans running freely across its runway and taxiways.

    To address your statements:

Have I served? Likely more total years than you've been alive... (OEF as a "green-suiter" twice, and once as a contractor. OIF 3 times in uniform and once as a contractor...plus, in reverse order, Kosovo, the Balkans, Gulf War 1 [Shield, Storm and Farewell], Panama and Grenada)

There were stockpiles of gear maintained in Kuwait; I'm betting it's still there. Sounds like you deployed only as part of a large unit...

Maps are secured and distributed by leaders who plan for contingencies and care about their INDIVIDUAL troops...

Your ROE statement speaks volumes about your exposure...and your experience. You do whatever is necessary to keep each other alive and accomplish your mission. In a firefight, one doesn't opine about Fort Leavenworth...

I have no idea what "theirngace" means, but I'm guessing it's a New Age contraction of "their ignorance" based on the sentence structure. FYI, I started as an Army E-1 and worked my way up to and retired as an O-6...but I'll agree that your military experiences - and exposure - might have been, shall we say, somewhat "different."

Thank you for your service and I'm glad you made it home (hopefully, in one piece; I still have some parts left in Iraq)...but let's not forget the purpose of this thread:

To remember, and pray for, those still in harm's way...

"theirngace" is, I think, a misspelling of "their image" or "their face."

From "India Today Live" Skip to 1:48 for " reporting " on what is going on inside Hamid Karzi Intl Airport.

"Using Apache Helicopters for crowd control for tarmac/runways " Any other sources confirm this?
