Default Could Use Your Help In Prayer

Tribe, I could use some prayer right now. I have been struggling with a tobacco and nicotine addiction for many years. I am tired of poisoning myself with this stuff and have drawn a line in the sand and quit (my second day) and have been experiencing the worst withdrawal symptoms. I could use some help in prayer. Please pray for my deliverance from this horrible addiction.

    Never had to fight tobacco.

    Alcohol was my enemy.

Northern European hard-drinking culture, added to a Northeastern US blue collar mindset, and the constitution of a draft horse. I took those assets to what a centerfold magazine once termed America's number one party school. After graduation, back to manual labor until law school, and once in law school--lawyers drink to prove how tough they are. Marking time in insurance claims while hunting work as a DPA, then 23 years as a DPA. And every one of those gigs had a hard-drinking culture.

It took me several attempts to quit. Sometimes I was booze free for a year or longer. I've been clean and sober since December of 2005, having done little or no drinking for a year prior to that.

I regret the first drink I ever took, and most of those that followed.

You have my support and that of many others in prayer. I'll be asking God to help you find what works, to help you ride out the failures, and to win.

    Thanks, Papa and Gabe.

Papa, I've been down that road too. Drinking was the first thing the Lord delivered me from, and it was somewhat miraculous. The tobacco and nicotine He let me struggle with. I wish someone had kicked my butt the first time I ever opened a tin of Skoal.

    Thanks.
