Moving to Prescott

As for lunch, I recommend hitting the Palace downtown on Whiskey Row, it’s really the heart of the Prescott experience.

Most of the local restaurant downtown are good. Some great Thai and Indian as well.


As for housing, prices are going crazy with conservatives moving in. I don't see it slowing down in the future either. Arizona is a red-state and going more red. Even if the housing bubble pops nationally, I imagine conservatives will still be flocking to red states like Arizona.

Between this thread and LawDog’s, I’m starting to consider the thought of the Prescott area. I can find work in Phoenix fairly easily, but that’s a bit far for a commute.
The Austin area may not be a viable option especially during any sort of a collapse. Too many imported communists and too many large clans imported from south of the border, it would be chaos. Quite a bit of nuance and detail in the discussion but I have much to consider...

Im not looking for a spread. Id be good with an acre on a dead end road, with no HOA preferably. Just not interested in neighbors being literally a hand shake away. I know there is a lot of public land for activities. Many people get hung up with wanting to have a range on their property but with all the BLM etc. out west it doesn't make sense to have that as a prerequisite IMHO when you have a shotgun a rifle and a four wheel drive as Hank Williams Jr. says.

The following couple years after the move Id like to be able to hop a jet back for monthly meetings and zoom in for everything else. The price of freedom you know... My gig is too sweet to walk away from before retiring, pension etc.

Spending the month up here, Prescott is even nicer than expected. I've found good restaurants, nice scenery and even places to play trivia.

The wife and I are seriously thinking of relocating up here. Chandler is a great place to live, but now that the kids are grown, it might be time to relocate.

I want to move to the area too, but to be honest, the current prices are simply beyond what I’m able to pay. Does much of Prescott also apply to the surrounding area? Any locales to avoid? Places like Congress, Paulden, Dewey are more in my price range. Fortunately, I don’t need a big house, but I do prefer rural with 2 acres or more.
