That's what killed tx for me.

Wound up in TN. No state income tax and lower property taxes than TX.

TN is great, I miss it. Spent my first 53 years there, and was quite shocked when I moved to AL and the taxes. Sheesh...

No state income tax in Texas, though. You’ll have to do the math on that but we’re money ahead compared to Oklahoma which, like Arizona, has state income tax and lower property tax than Texas.

Some other smaller things can factor in like no sales tax on groceries in Texas.

Yeah check the math, it could be an advantage or disadvantage or a wash.

So far my tax liability has dropped in AZ and I'm not funding a communist state government!

And even now the background check is only a few minutes in AZ versus the few days to week CO got up to. Still need my CCW so I can skip the paperwork...

Shoot me a note when you come up. I know a few cool places for chow. Maybe I will have my new Harley by then...if not, the Audi.

Taxes in AZ are ridiculously low. Indig AZ people get up in arms about it...but transplants laugh. In CA, my property tax alone would have paid for a couple of mortgages. Now...it is negligible. Mind you...I think all taxation is theft...actually armed robbery under color of authority...and property tax is more immoral than anything mentioned in the Bible...yet it is a fact of life in the so-called "land of the free". 250 years ago...people went to war over stuff like this. Now? Meh. Inevitable.

I have traveled all over the nation in my years as a "have gun will travel mofo". I have been to the northeast...from Maine to the borders of the Carolinas. That part of the country is emphatically not for me. Sorry to offend, but no...I'd rather live in Mexico.

The south has its charm. The pace of life...the Carolinas...Georgia...even Northern Florida..but I think the war of Northern Aggression has forever colored that world and while I respect the rebellious nature of my southern brethren...not for me either. Specifically the fitness quotient of the population. Please do not be offended but I have not seen fatter Americans outside of Texas.

Texas...with the name Suarez? Everyone outside of Dallas or Houston thought I was a Mexican. And my God...your property taxes are like a prison gang sodomy. Right...I know...no state taxes...BFD. I can manipulate my income so I pay very little of that but I cannot manipulate what I paid for my damn house. Right now...if my AZ holdings were in the Lone Start State, I'd need to pony up $100K per year! Nope...not even in Mexico.

The central plains north and south are as exciting as reruns of McCloud (look it up snowflake). Sorry...no. I need either bodies of water or mountains in the distance. And the west coast? I find absolutely nothing of redeeming quality there. I would rather live in Nicaragua than in California...and yes...I have been to both.

Montana and Wyoming and Idaho? You guys have what - NINE MONTHS OF WINTER!!! No....just no.

The southwest...notably Arizona is my home and my base of operations. If I had to select another place to live out my days, it would be outside the borders of the USA.

I know what you mean, it’s hard to beat.... Mountains, Civilized, gun friendly and not humid..... Even Sedona with its Disneylandish feel, it’s a nice fucking place. I could pack my shit up tomorrow and probably have a job that pays “enough” by the end of the weekend.... Maybe soon, idk yet. I’m probably going to start looking for property by the end of the year, to be honest, I’m using this place for the only thing it’s good for, it’s priced itself out for sure.....

I won’t even begin with Texas, I could live there but it isn’t really for me either... I have a lot there I can build a house on, in a decent track in a pretty productive area of commute.... I just simply don’t like it.... To each his own, I won’t even start with the south, nobody likes hearing that....
