    Monday check in 244.5

I talked with another surgeon at UW Hospital. Several guys here have used him and been very happy with the results. He recommended just removing a little bit of the bone to clearance the nerve vs a fusion. He also felt at my age if I did get a fusion it would just move to the next disc and down the road that would need a fusion. So instead of 6-9 weeks off it would be 2 weeks.

That's some good progress, Brother! Sounds like you are in good hands. I'll be praying for the very best outcome for you - surgery and healing wise.

    All downhill from here.l

Avoid fusion. I had an L5/S1 laminectomy 32 years ago. Nerve damage had already occurred, but outside of a reduction in flexibility and the occasional pain from scar tissue I remain reasonably strong and mobile.

Yeah I totally agree with you about fusion. I am hoping nerve damage is not so far along as not to be able to heal itself. The doc said there should be more healing it will do, but by 18 months it will be where it is going to be.

By the way I cleaned out my inbox for your email on GSD breeders. Sorry that it was not cleaned out.

Nothing wrong with holding what you've got for a week or two. You've come a long way.
