That was my impression as well. Some blade designs are timeless because they work exactly as they were intended.

The Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife (dagger) was designed to poke hole is people's soft spots and slice their meaty parts. It wasn't designed to be a general purpose field knife as was the Kabar.
