Way to go 6Gunner! Keep it up.

Thanks to these encouraging stories, I went to a specialist today to see why I feel like an old man at 52. Blood work will be back within a week and we will see.

Thank you Gabe and Greg for starting this topic and sharing your process and results.

Welp...just got blood work lab results today, and it was as expected; low-T. Nothing else made sense, so I figured time to see the doc. Where should I start to research TRT?

There are good threads here. Also good articles on T-Nation.

As for finding a doctor, I'd start by doing map searches in your area for "TRT" and then investigate the doctors in your area. Look for a holistic approach: what the prescribe, for whom, what regular bloodwork they do and how often, what additional prescriptions they prescribe (such as Chlomid to preserve your testicle size, estrogen inhibitors, etc.)...

I am not a doc...but I am an over achieving, researching, mofo that makes docs uncomfortable sometimes.

Unless you want kids, no need for Chlomid or HCG. I have been on Test for two years now and the boys have not changed in size. My baby-making days are over and I don't care if the rounds are no longer viable.

Also...I would avoid Aromatase Inhibitors. My Estradiol is something like 60...which makes typical docs scream for the Anastrazole if not the Letrozole...but the Shield Maiden has been getting a run for her money the last two years so... Estrogen is necessary and has cardio protective properties. I had the early quacks kill my estrogen and I felt like total dog shit for months until I was able to recover. AIs are like Statins...just say "NO".

AIs are the devil. My guy in Florida put me on them based on lab tests and not symptoms and and I was total PMSing until I figured out what was going on. Thought I was losing my mind but once off them I was back to normal in days.

To add to the estrogen conversation. For those of you just starting into this, know that everyone is different. If my estrodiol was 60 like Gabe's I'd feel like total shit. Mine needs to be in the recommended 20-30 ish for me to feel good. I keep my T at 1000 or so and need no AI. Being in shape has alot to do with not needing to use AI's. You need to figure your own body out. Symptoms can tell you as much as blood work many times. Study, learn and pay attention to your body.

Iíve been doing IM for about 6 months and am switching to pellets. The highs and lows are supposed to be gone with pellets and your body is supposed to regulate optimum
levels on pellets. Iíll see how it goes and report back.

my levels actually got too high (1500+) and I started to have unwanted side effects so we will see how the pellets do. I recently decreased IM and was around the 800 level and I didnít even notice a difference from not taking T. I feel optimum levels are different for everyone but for me 800 is not enough and 1500 is too much.

if anyone has experience with pellets let me know.

100% true. My doc switched me off them as well and told me no more HCG either.

Anyone have any experience with the patches? It seems that is the only delivery system covered by insurance, but all my research points to injections as optimal.
