Default First known use of handguns in combat Battle of Ain Jalut, 1260

Mongol forces in 1260 were about to wipe organized Islam off the face of the earth in a military campaign meant to seize egypt and the rest of north Africa. The Mamelukes out of Egypt stopped them. Frankish crusader knights were allied with the Mongols. Christian ruled lands in the region stayed neutral and sold supplies and allowed passage to the Mameluke forces.
The Mamelukes won the battle and Islam survived. The Mamelukes killed the Mongol envoys in Cario and so it was either win or die for them.

According to Arabic military treatises of the 13th and 14th centuries, hand cannon were used by the Mamluk side in the Battle of Ain Jalut to frighten the Mongol armies, making this the earliest known battle where hand cannon were used. The compositions of the gunpowder used in these cannon were also given in these manuals.[27][28][29][30][31][32]
The battle occurred in the holy land
Spring of Goliath') in the southeastern Galilee, in the Jezreel Valley, in the vicinity of Nazareth,[10] not far from the site of Zir'in. The loss of the battle by the Mongols was their first defeat at the hands of the Muslims that was not immediately countered.

I came across of the references by muslims using such firearms about that time in spain. a hundred years later the english forces at the battle of Crecy 26 August 1346 used:
The English army was also equipped with several types of gunpowder weapons, in unknown numbers: small guns firing lead balls; ribauldequins firing either metal arrows or grapeshot; and bombards, an early form of cannon firing metal balls 3.2–3.6 inches (80–90 mm) in diameter. Contemporary accounts and modern historians differ as to what types of these weapons and how many were present at Crécy, but several iron balls compatible with the bombard ammunition have since been retrieved from the site of the battle.[55][56][57]
