HA HA, we used do the same thing with split shot sinkers back in the 60's, hope it works better on two legger, than it did on 4

Heavy 00 buck for distance and penetration, then when hit target it spreads to increase probability of hitting a vital on a supper drugged out lunatic. They say shot placement is everything, so more shots the better the probability.

Rather stay with #4 (non-flight control) for CQB for the spread to increase probability of hitting the target (movement, low light, panic, adrenaline, etc).

It seems like a poorly though out idea. Buck shot does not have a great reputation for extreme penetration. At real close ranges when velocity is high if it splits in half like two number #4s or simply open up its velocity may be enough for it to tear a large hole in the vital organs. My concern is at a distance it might end up embedded not too far into the muscle of the body.

This seems like a poor idea for accuracy and not understanding the ballistics of 00 buck. I would be very concerned about penetration on these. Furthermore they are round. Do they collapse on entrance? What's to keep the from deforming upon being fired. I would not load these in a duty or HD weapon without serious testing first. As previously stated buckshot or really any round ammunition is not a phenomenal penetrator as is.

I'd want to see a lot more gel tests before anything. Its an interesting idea but I don't know if it would be worth it. Good old 00 buck does a fine job.

I believe the idea here is to kill them without fear of over-penetration killing someone else. But will it now still penetrate enough to be effective?
