Ya, forgot about that. My half homie is more like a full homie due to all the shield work, it's just natural now.

I should have signed up for shield duty.... then my left forearm would be as large as my right after a deployment ;)

Seriously though, while we have shields, I have noticed less tendency to field them (for my agency) on operations as we have taken a speed or protection approach. Our sister unit in the neighboring agency still fields them plus probably 20+ lbs more other kit than we do.

I only used them on approach and initial entry on a lower level or for stairs going up. other than that we spread out too much (by 2s) and too fast for them to be effective for anything else.

We tend to bring them but not use them. We don't train sufficiently with them, and it's not like riding a bike. The easy button is to rely on speed, and excuses are manifold.
And then there's the issue of actual effectiveness.

But if you're rolling with the shield, have a laser.

What are you using on full size glocks?

Crimson Trace only lists the LG 436 for 19's & smaller. They said they hadn't "product tested" it on the 17 or 34, which seems odd.

The shield is the only time I have used a laser at all, but I could see the value of them after reading this. It makes me want to consider a light laser combo. Is the X400 series the way to go on that? I ask for professional purposes not concealed.

The issue I have had with the Light/Laser units are these:

Most of them are utter shit. The ONLY units I would consider using are Surefire and the Streamlight with the Surefire being vastly better than the Streamlight.
Most do not have grip activated switches - essential for gunfight/CQB use. Streamlight and Surefire have these available.
All of them are extremely bulky, and in my opinion, impossible to carry daily unless the user is also extremely large. I will bet Eric Tull could EDC a couple of these but not me.
Being as such, they are relegated to home defense, or uniform use. I sincerely doubt all the Youtube heroes carrying these in AIWB actually carry anything like that in real life.

And now that Crimson Trace has discontinued their Laserguard in Green for the full sized Glocks (green laser, grip activated, with a shutoff switch), the entire project is no longer viable and I have lost my interest in pursuing it.
