That looks like a Puma knife on Felix's belt. Made in Germany, top notch for a factory knife of that era. Very popular among pros back then.

Knife nerd moment passed. Please resume normal discussion.

A story as was told to me by an ex-us army major of Panamanian extraction by the name of Giron that was in Bolivia at the time was that Che was carrying a large of amount of cash in US dollars that were called silver certificates (Silver certificates are a type of representative money issued between 1878 and 1964 ) and the soldiers that captured him wanted the cash and did not want their superiors to know about it and killed Che G for it. The CIA badly wanted Che at least for an interrogation. He was of value to them alive. The soldiers did not get to keep the money and it was taken away from them.

Yes, the CIA wanted him alive.

However, he was under the control of the Bolivian's in Bolivia and the order was transmitted from Bolivian HQ to execute. Decision was not made by low-ranking soldiers on the ground.

Book that I mentioned above gives the first-hand account, in great detail....

The person I quoted was there and involved in what was going on. He could be wrong for sure and books are not always correct. His military career got ended with a RIF.
