I've said it before, but the colleges and universities in the USA are populated by a bunch of "true believers" waiting for a Pol Pot figure to lead them to revolutionary victory.

"If you see something, say something... so we can call you a racist!"
"Zen? Meh! Who needs it? All that effort to achieve nothingness and what do you got? Bupkis!

Maybe the liberal arts, but my engineering University education had very little communist ideology in it.

In fact none that I remember.

I went to a public University in Utah county, Utah though, where it was very conservative.

I believe you may be describing medieval nobility.

Also, let's keep in mind that there is a great deal of daylight between socialism and communism. The Swedes or Dutch don't seem to be lining people up in front of ditches.

Anyone that believes in a form of communism, or anarchy, is woefully ignorant of history, and has political views akin to an adolescent's views of love.

My Bachelor of Arts in Literature--from a tiny liberal arts college, no less--involved much study of post-structuralists, and many spirited hours spent refuting the post-modern meat grinder that their philosophy built. Classical Liberalism is not the enemy, and the Liberal Arts are likely the key to understanding and thereby solving some of these thought-problems. Classical Liberals are the children of The Enlightenment, ya know, the Scientific Method, concepts of nation-states, rule of law, etc.

All true. Yet Classic Liberals are nowhere to be found, or are shouted down by the Progressive Leftists that have taken over their establishments. Just ask Alan Dershowitz. The Enlightenment could never occur today on campus. I suspect you received your BA quite some time ago prior to the Progressive Leftists Fascists takeover of the liberal arts at the university.

The original rationale for the liberal-arts college has been displaced by the ideological impulses that fly under the banner of diversity, inclusion and equality.

Well, what can you expect from an array of institutions where you can major in "English" without reading the defining English writers like Shakespeare, Chaucer, etc. Gender studies and de-colonization are the items of choice these days.
