    Default Defensive Shooting in NY

    https://midhudsonnews.com/2019/12/09...-poughkeepsie/

A man shot and killed another man this afternoon in Poughkeepsie, NY, claiming self defense. After the shooting he called the police and remained at the scene. By the time the cops arrived, he had unloaded his legally owned and carried gun and placed it out of his reach, surrendering to the police without incident.

While he was indeed brought to the station and conferred with a lawyer, he was released pending a grand jury investigation.

Apparently, even in anti-gun NY, a good shoot is a good shoot, and you are not necessarily mounting your defense from a jail cell awaiting trial.

NY vs NYC perhaps? Not that one is better than the other of course.

I question unloading your pistol and putting it somewhere you can't access it...…

I can see putting it back in the holster, covering it with my shirt/jacket, but making it inoperable/unaccessable while remaining at the scene?

Good thing the dead guy's buddies didn't stop by, or anyone else with bad intent.

A great example of how to be taken into custody is Jack Bauer on 24.
