    Default Neutral Grip Bench Press

Any recommendations for a decent quality starter Swiss bar?

When you get one and start using it can you post your thoughts? I have had to give up BP due to a partially torn rotator cuff that I do not want to get worse.

They are good for barbell hammer curls too.

IANative: Indeed, when you grab Brent (or he grabs you), it feels like liquid unobtanium wrapped in rawhide... whereas Greg is just solid muscle wrapped in hate, seasoned w/ snuff and a little lead.

So I bought the Extreme Monkey. Cheap and crude, but it works on my old Costco Nautilus multigym.

Barely fits between the uprights--I moved the rests up one hole and ran the locks outboard for a skosh more clearance. And I shifted my bench about 4" toward the lat rack to bring my chest under the bar.

There are sharp angles everywhere, so careful in the mount and dismount: may want to get into the habit of tilting the handle for clearance. And watch the negative, so as not to get a sharp corner in the sternum or solar plexus.

The grips are fat. Takes some getting used to, to prevent rotation.

First session today, light because of various issues. Ended with 5 sets of six at 115. Minimal joint pain. If you think it through, you can bench painlessly.

I'm sold. This will work especially well during post-op rehab.

My advice is to buy higher end with rounded corners, better welds and deeper knurling. But this one has three sets of angled grips.

How much does that thing weigh?

I'm fortunate in that traditional bench feels great on my shoulders (took a lot of learning to get there, though). 3 sets of 6 at 245 today, first rep of each set paused on the chest. Body weight of 159 this morning. Felt easy; didn't bother having anyone stand there for it. Even my bad shoulder feels good with bench.

But I want to play around with one of these.

25 pounds on my scale. Advertised weight 24 pounds. Supposedly has a 400 pound capacity.
