As a side note..in regards to Karate. The Kata Seienchin. The last move...is a sprawl.

Yeah. My right bicep is rolled up about halfway to my shoulder. It makes it tough to close up all the space. Ironically, its skinnier necked guys that are harder for me to choke. I never had a problem until i lost the bicep.
I like danahers method now. Its basically making a nogi rnc more like a bow and arrow choke in the gi. Way more torque. And if your opponent gets his jaw in there, its a pretty gnarly neck crank.

Pull them back off balance and then drop them hard on their ass at roughly a 45 degree angle. So the head is moving forward, restrained at the neck, and the body is going back. Think making them impact with the ground, not "taking them down". Do it hard enough, and suddenly enough and the results will be conclusive.

And much more elegant than a tackle.
Circa 1967 that is basically one of the techniques the army taught us to take out a sentry from behind, We were taught to from BNC to kick ourselves backwards to fall into a prone while bringing the "sentry" down supine hyperextending his neck. He won't be moving from that point on.

A video from Greg's 2016 TASI class of me being choked unconscious.

We also practice the RNC with a sprawl at Greg's TASI class. That's a great technique, and I can see it being especially useful in a 9-11/airplane hijack situation when you don't have your pistol with you. In fact, that move always crosses my mind when I get on an airplane.

Noteworthy on the second video with the brothers, the choker used an arm drag to get behind the chokee and you do have to get behind someone to REAR naked choke them.
