Default South African taskforce - old school cool

Not sure if this has been posted before...but it's some pretty cool footage.

About halfway through they stop escaping armed robbers by pumping their car full of buckshot. Seems to work pretty well. :-)

That’s the kind of policing I could get into. Or from the era Gabe was a cop. Today’s cop is shackled by politics bullshit rules of engagement and liberal media who like to smear cops for doing their jobs. My hats off to you guys who walk the thin blue line today. It’s a different time.

I liked the episode in the series where they run at a VERY high wall and seem to run up it, launching with their hand to grab the top, just as their momentum is dying. They then seem to walk up again and over. I think it was a wall in excess of 10 feet and they had to do it.

I'll try find that one. It was the kind of thing that you do with an offensive handgun, when chasing or escaping.

The other thing they did that interested me was a dynamic assault into a house. Their speed and shooting on the move was truly amazing.

In recent years there have been numerous attacks thwarted by unarmed professional rugby players in South Africa. They were wounded or killed in the process but usually ran off their attacker.

There is significant cross pollination in South Africa between Rugby and physical combat. Rugby gives one the ability to swerve, tackle and even body slam on the run.

It also trains developed the physique and coordination for very impressive dashes of speed. I'm sure that quite a few in this unit have benefitted from Rugby.

Here is the latest SA Rugby player to tackle home invaders. He played in the SA team when they won the World Cup.

He recovered well, in the intervening months. However, no arrests have yet been made and the police are not communicating with the victims.

Notice after the bank robbery takedown - nobody's traumatized or in the throes of PTSD - those guys are happy to be doing what they do.

    That. Was. Beautiful.

It's so much easier to control a suspect that isn't breathing.

But muh rights, and excessive force or whatever.

    Always entertaining, mildly offensive
IANative: Indeed, when you grab Brent (or he grabs you), it feels like liquid unobtanium wrapped in rawhide... whereas Greg is just solid muscle wrapped in hate, seasoned w/ snuff and a little lead.

That was certainly the old days. I wish it could be that way again; but it'll never happen under the ANC. I thought things were starting to look better as recent as 2016 when the socialists were starting to gain power who would ever think the socialists were a good thing....

    Wonderful!

Notice how they were able to clearly articulate the threat and their response, even while still working through their adrenaline?

It’s... Almost like they’ve trained it before. (And done it many, many times.)

One of the SWAT competitions I went to years ago (late 90’s) had a team from the South African Police Service in attendance. There were teams from FBI, ATF, U.S. Marshall’s, Dallas P.D., as well as the “big cities” in CA. Some were much better than others, at least within the framework of the competition scenarios.

But the South Africans definitely had their own way of handling almost every scenario... I remember a couple of us on our team asking our Lieutenant if we could “incorporate” some the South African techniques into our training. His response was “Yeah... After I retire and move out of state.”

    Thanks for posting this.

Great video. Those guys donít play around. Kind of surprised the dude in the bank didnít get smoked though. Looked like the guy in the first hostage situation got a few to the back possibly?? Got to love it!
