Fortunately for the victim the robber made a lot of mistakes and after he was shot he tried flee rather get his gun operational shoot to the woman. He had time to shoot even if his weapon had an empty chamber. The woman foolishly still has the gun in her hand when the LEOs show up on the scene and fortunately she was not shot. By the way .380's will kill regardless if the gun is a ruger or keltec or even a hipoint. She only fired two shots and she should of put a couple in his head to be sure.

Deters said Douglas's gun was loaded, but there wasn't a round in the chamber, so pulling the trigger would have done nothing. It's not clear from the footage whether he tried to shoot back.

"I hope the lady involved is OK," he said. "I'm sure its traumatic for her, but she did what she had to do."
As for Douglas, Deters said the father of multiple children was in "dark spiral" and was desperate for money.

Nowhere in the story does it say that the store owner used a Kel-Tec P-3AT or a Ruger LCP. It says, “Police found a loaded 9 mm Springfield Arms that Douglas brought to the scene and a Ruger .380 semi-automatic owned by the store owner.”

Ruger makes other 380 pistols in addition to the LCP and the video clearly shows the gun in her hand to be much larger than a tiny LCP.

Note from the video that even though he was mortally wounded, it still took the BG 49 second to drop. And during that time he was still able to physically attack and injure the victim. Seldom will such an attack stop immediately with only one or two shots, even when the attacker is mortally wounded. She should’ve continue shooting until the attacker was totally incapacitated. She was very lucky that the his gun did not have a chambered round. The story could’ve had a much different ending.

She did not have the gun in her hand when the LEOs arrived. The second video clearly shows that the woman dropped her gun behind the counter before she struggled with the attacker and then ran out the door.
