    Default My AR-40

Having gone thru the AR pistols in 5.56 and 300 Blackout with 10.5", and 7.5" with the 5.56 and 8.5" with the 300 Blackout I learned that those things are LOUD. I shot them in local IDPA " rifle side matches" and could easily beat most of the guys shooting rifles. I decided that for my purposes and AR pistol in a pistol caliber would work better. You ask why a .40 S&W? I have a ton of 155 grn Federal HST, 2 Glocks one 40 and one 357 Sig (with an extra Factory Glock 40 BBL).

Buying a suppressor at this time is not in the cards.

So I put together this little pig. Billet Glock mag lower, Shockwave, Taccom3g buffer system and feed ramp, 8.5" KAW valley barrel, Spinta Precision bolt, forward directing muzzle device. The BUIS are Magpul front and modified MATECH rear. I added the feed ramp to give more support to the mag and help it feed some truncated cone HP's better. I wanted it to feed any ammo I could run thru it. It has a 2.5 Primary Arms prismatic, which I have determined is too much for my intended use. The 8.5" BBL give those hot 155's a bit more velocity.

Changes I am contemplating are building another upper with a 4.5" barrel, changing out the optic to something smaller and lighter and adding a Law Tactical folder.

My intended use is a car car gun traveling and a house gun. I live in the country on acreage and have horses. I am very happy with the AR concept having been using the platform since 1979 on duty and competitively.

    A bedtime story:

I was down at the Mosque going through a few magazines.
I was having a good time.
    Then, my rifle jammed.

I like it. Wonder how hard it would be to make one in 10mm. That would be a “fun” gun. I guess a Glock 20 with the pdw kit from suarez would work about the same.....

You don’t want the MOS. Get a Suarez slide with suppressor sights so your irons co-witness
