The eye relief isn't quite rite. I'm going to order a standard butt plate to get me an inch closer, and even as low as this mount is it gives me a jaw weld rather than a cheek weld so I'll be looking for a cheek riser to add to it as well.

If I recall I got my cheek riser from Fulton Armory. Its been while since I got it so I don't know if they still have them. It attaches with a couple straps and has a couple different pad options. It stays put even with my massive noggin on it and I ran it through Spetsnatz Sniper class where we were literally jumping out of the back of a moving duece and a half and then sprinting out of sight. Lol.

So I am still investigating optics options for my M1A and I'm a hands on learner so I have to be able to touch and feel to decide if I like something.

That being the case j found a cheap chicom 2-7x long eye relief scope to see if I like that setup as I have little experience with scopes, and what I do have has all been traditional. If I like the balance and feel I'll find a good brand scope and Mount it. This one will go to my son for his BB guns or nerf or whatever.

Still not sure what to think of the forward mounted scope but overall I'm not a fan, I think.

This one has a smaller lense than I prefer, but that might be the price to pay for long eye relief.

It does change the balance of the rifle but I'm not sure it's for the better.

I still need a pad for a good cheekweld.

I think the idea with a scout scope is fast acquisition but I'm not sure I'm convinced it could be much better than a regular scope.

And overall I'm still really tempted to just go back to the iron sights because I really like the m1a's irons.

So what's the deal? Are scout scopes great and I need to give them a chance? Or definitely sub par to regular scopes?

I could do some good work with that iron.

I like it. I especially like that you figured out a way to get that glass on there without an additional scope mount.
