Or a Stakeout, or a rifle...

One of the kata I practice regularly is for the Jo (a short staff). One reason I like it is that itís easily adapted to long guns (imagine scenarios where itís necessary to hit someone rather than shoot them).

Of course any time you take a sequence of techniques designed for one weapon and adapt it to another weapon, some modifications will be necessary. For instance, the Diagonal Lines kata was designed for the pistol. Itís easily adapted to rifle and shotgun with a few small, but significant, tweaks.

Tonight my my dojo partner Randy demonstrated a variation on our Jo kata, essentially treating it like a spear and modifying the movements slightly to take more advantage of the pointy end.

It requires a bit of modification to adapt to a long gun, but this is close. Enjoy.
