    Apparently his home had been burglarized several times, once when the family was home and he was fed up with that. But he certainly let his clouded emotions rule his actions when he saw the 14 year-old at his front door and will now have a long time to think about how he should've done it different.

    Looks like the incriminating video was from his own security system.
    Two fatal mistakes:
    1-He actually fired the gun at the fleeing boy. I believe he intentionally fired high his conviction should be for a lesser crime.
    2-He should have not turned over or even mentioned the video surveillance.

    Brandishing a gun is one thing and often is not wise, but to fire it, even overhead is just dumb at someone that is fleeing. .
