    How vests are "fitted" plays into this as well. Regardless of assurances that I'll get a 3" overlap on the sides they always seem to come to me with about an inch. And my newest, "fitted" three years ago, has oversized armholes and the worst closures I've yet seen. How in the 21st century can you make Velcro that doesn't grip?
    And if you're engaging a threat one-handed, because you're getting off the X or one hand is otherwise occupied, you're going to expose your side to incoming. Reactive as opposed to proactive, sure, but watch force-on-force or gunfight footage and you will often see the gun arm fully extended and the body bladed behind it.
