Oh and to answer the original question: What's Wrong with This Technique?

    It's Gay.

    Always entertaining, mildly offensive
IANative: Indeed, when you grab Brent (or he grabs you), it feels like liquid unobtanium wrapped in rawhide... whereas Greg is just solid muscle wrapped in hate, seasoned w/ snuff and a little lead.

I have not read any replies to this thread except first page. The guy had a jam/miss-fire/out of ammo event. Mag was not seated. He tapped and racked to get shooting again. Then all the other stupid stuff he did or not do already mentioned by my colleagues.

The difference between shooting and fighting with a gun is the difference between drivers ed. class and being a race car driver.

The tactic of going to the gun first versus the going to hands/elbows/strikes to solve the problem is that putting the technique in your muscle memory leads to bad times. When I see it, I can only think that confirmation bias will validate your poor tactical solution to the problem. What if your BG turns out to be wiry, strong, or skilled? Chances are he will be on top of you before you can draw your pistol OR strike/block or create distance and he will be well inside your OODA loop and be able to render you combat ineffective. People who see this technique will practice it and then, if they find themselves fighting the the demons, wonder why it didn't work as the scene fades to black.

this thread is a good opportunity to remind folks of the 0-5 class coming in October.

    https://suarezinternational.com/crg-...oodinville-wa/

This one will be unique because it's not live fire. Live fire is obviously good...but it takes more time to set things up. Dispensing with it will give us more time to dive deeper into this subject.
