    Default What AR 9mm?

Ok, so I see the Angstadt and CMMG versions in the SI store. Assuming I choose to abandon the FA Uzi, which AR 9mm is the way to go?

Thanks! Thinking add a SB brace and sighting options and it would be good to go.

Not technically an AR, but I love my Sig MPX. Has almost the same layout as an AR, only drawback is not using glock mags lol. Extremely accurate and a robust platform.

If I were to get a glock compatible platform, I would agree with Gabe. The cmmg looks nice from what I have seen as well.

Not to hijack a thread here, but I have a 9mm AR question. Is the forward assist less important on a 9mm than it is on a rifle caliber AR? Why or why not?

I would argue that a FA isn't that important on a properly built 5.56 AR either. It was an afterthought by the infinitely wise US Army leadership cause they thought it would help stuck cases get seated into the chamber. In fact, if you have a problem that requires a forward assist, you have much bigger problems at hand than the forward assist can really solve.

Other question: Why buy a 9mm AR when you could build a Glock PDW?

There are advantages to each system.

    i built a 16" 9mm carbine about 15 years
    ago, as a match/range training platform &
I still like it. About 10 years ago, I built a matching
    7" 9mm pistol. I have shot them a lot & still
like them, but as I see it now, the SI PDW is
    the end of that road.

    My initial thoughts:

    AR pros:

    • AR manual of arms
    • Many common parts to full sized ARs (triggers, optic mounts, etc)
    • Longer barrel
    • Less expensive

    Glock PDW pros:
    • Shorter, more compact
    • Can be broken down into a handgun size
    • Compatible with all glock parts
    • EDIT: More easily operated with one hand?

    Anything I'm missing?
