Would love to hear your thoughts on one vs the other when you get a minute and up for it. I'm thinking pretty hard about one of these as a lower-cost thermal supplement to a PSV-14.

Leupold in battery powered...Flir is rechargeable. I tend to favor Leupold, but Flir is more established...other than that...quite comparable

I'm hearing stories of "guys" (no one Ive talked to directly) that have mounted the Leupold in front of a red dot (using a 30mm ring) to use as a weapon mounted device--any thoughts?

The description for the Leupold specifies that it is "Not for mounting on firearms." I imagine the construction is not stout enough to handle recoil.

My experience is with another brand, but thermal eats batteries. I like the option of using rechargeables but also have lithium's in the bag for when I'm away from base.

A while back JD posted a pic of a buddy of his doing the same thing. According to Leupold recoil is the concern.

Here's the pic. I might give this a whirl in the future but first I want to drop coin on the Angstadt. I can't imagine recoil being a problem if I mounted it on a 9mm.

Maybe somebody could say for sure; but my experience is theres more "felt" recoil with a 9mm AR than a 556.....?

The felt recoil is about the same to me,
but I have not thought to shoot one
right after the other to test it.

I don't think i would put that thermal
on a rifle, but that's just me.
