I re-read this thread every couple months. It has helped pare down my travel kit to an RMR'd pistol, RMR'd shockwave and gen3 nightvision.
I'd really like to find a small grip activated IR laser or flood like a crimson trace light guard, but not a full size like a streanlight TLR

I am not easily convinced of new things, but I have been on this.

I'd run a brace on it and then I think it would be perfect.

A scalper is offering one at about $1200 bucks.

    Damned capitalist.

Yeah, Tac 13's are hard to find and when you do, the prices are very inflated. About 3 weeks ago, I happened to stumble across a listing on Gun Broker offering TWO Tac 13's for $739 each. The seller was brand new and had no feedback. I was sure it was a scam. But I messaged them about shipping and the return email had a signature line for a real business in NC. I called them and talked to a very nice lady who assured me the listing was real and that they were brand new to Gun Broker. I immediately bought one and received it without a hitch. I kick myself for not buying both.
    It's not rocket surgery.

Thanks for posting these, cc. I have often wondered about the hostage shot up close with a shotgun.

In the past (shotgun gun fighting dvd) it was recommended to transition to pistol then take the shot. Is that still recommended, or does it change based on the distance of the shot?

There are a number of factors:

How well do you know your shotgun's pattern and zero at different distances?
Can you effectively transition to a slug and have it's zero?
Can you close the distance quickly to mitigate stray pellets?
Is it faster/safer to stay on the sights of one platform than it is to transition to a new sighting system?
Are you more confident with one platform over the other, or with one of the above choices over the others?

Thanks, Greg. That mirrors a lot of the considerations I had when thinking about it. Great stuff as always.
