    For a store bought large bowie, I'd go with the Cold Steel Laredo in 01 steel and micarta handle. For a smaller one, check out the SOG Agency. It handles wonderfully and is very fast in the hand.

    I have a Gang Unit I carry on the regular. But my job allows me to carry a larger blade while "in performance of my duties". The larger the better when it comes to knives, IMO. If I were in an area where carrying a machete was the norm, I would carry a machete.
