Default So I went to the gym...

...For the first time in about 10 years...

I have to thank Mr. Anthony for accompanying me. I use to lift four times a week so I am no stranger to the gym. I just slacked off like a big slacker. I wanted to ensure my form was still good and having a friend and resource like Mr. Anthony is great. He tweaked a couple things in my form and came up with a program to gain even more power then I already have. I think its going to be a lot of fun. He also had lots of good info for pulls ups since I would like to be able to do one lol.

Right now my only goals are I would like to get back to what my max lifts use to be. Bench use to be 250, squat 525 and I can't remember what dead's were. Before this last Saturday I didn't know if it was possible but now I am thinking it is. As long as I do my part.

It was funny; I was titrating weights up to see where form issues pop up. For most "untrained" people, this happens pretty early on.

    On bench:

Me: "How does that 185 feel?"

    DF: "Pretty good."

Me: "You know...I think we're good here. Let's go look at squats."

I started working out for the first time in 24 years in October. I have alway had outside jobs and was just naturally strong. However when I started "supervising" I started a quick downhill slide. At 44 it didn't take long.

It took me 6 months to get back up to my old work out weight from when I was in college. Now, I have had to lay of of the heavy weight to let a muscle strain heal. I strained it in early December but didn't slow down. By April I couldn't take it any more.

Go slow. Push... But not too much. Know the difference between burn and strain.

I still don't know where it will stop. My workout weight was going up every two or three weeks. I have trouble scratching my back. My wife and friends say I shouldn't push so hard. I say I'll stop when my body says so. And I only work out twice a week.

Once you get over wanting to puke, you'll love it!!!
