Barnet: those remind me of Great Danes, especially the heads. Perhaps the Danes are a bit longer.
The great dane had originally a connection with german mastiffs. I do not know about the modern ones that seem to live and average of 8 years and are really friendly.
Most mastiffs originally had long heads. The shorter heads were developed for the various bulldog breeds which were basically catch dogs. They were designed to grab and not let go. Fighting dogs grab and rip. Slightly longer jaws are better for creating more drastic wounds. Wild canines like wolves have longer jaws and kill and scavenge for their food. The majority of mastiff breeds sold today are modern recreations invented for the dog show ring and also to sell pups. Their prime objective is to make them real big. Behavior and health is secondary. For some reason they have decided to give them short and and often lower undershot jaws. The teeth instead of being long are often short. More suitable for a catch dog than a war dog that kills.

While i have little computer skill. For email pictures if they will not directly copy and paste to a forum post, I right click and save them. Usually first to word and then the word image to an explorer file. Then I use the photo import icon on WT to import the saved file. Usually works for me, but like I said I not particularly understanding of computers the computer have the same view of me lol. I do not use smart phones since I am a cheapskate and my fingers seem to be too large.

That's "Ruger", sideways. Here's "Shadow", maybe. Ruger is AKC as mentioned about, about 125#'s. Still sideways? THanks, guys!

Good looking GSD. The big thing with any dog is how it responds to its owner, family, and environment. A well behaved miniature poodle beats the most expensive, good looking mastiff that has poor behavior. .

Ruger's a good boy, got him as a pup. Shadow was about 3yo. He's coming along nicely, considering how little time I devote to training. Summer's coming. When I leave in the a.m., I admonish them "if you get a burglar, ya' gotta' share!". I'll always have a big, smart dog in the house! If I'm relaxed when someone strange to them approaches, they're ok. Never had to tense up so don't really know.......

This is why I have a cat. One of my dogs took this away from the cat and mouthed it real good, but did not eat it. She was barking and growling earlier this evening and likely this was the focus of it. Found this at the back door when i let her in and put the other dog out. Cat has not reclaimed it. I need to toss it before the other pregnant dog eats it.

Bo (short for botox, wife used to be liaison between hospital & state lab, WMD/NBC) is the 8 lb cat that rules the roost! Body slams vermin, mice & moles, at our feet. Scolded him 'cause he watched a mouse navigate the kitchen; found 3 piled up in the corner of the porch the next day!
