    Arizona:
Coy wolf Mick chased and caught.
Mick is said to be able to:
I judge Mick's endurance and speed against dozens of dogs I have raised over 50 plus years including GSD's,Mastiffs, Bull Terriers, Greyhound, Airedale, American Bulldogs etc. and the hundreds of dogs I have known over the same years owned by others and even against the stories of speed, endurance and heroics that I heard since a kid about the working bulldogs my family raised on their farms since the 1800's. That's the long answer. The short answer is Mick runs over 35 MPH for hundreds of yards and has run, sprint, trotted for well over 35 miles in day in 100 plus degree weather here in s Arizona.

    9 ft leap and grab

The dog in these pictures is Mick. Mick's dad is Ab/Presa multigeneration and his Mom is Ab/Pit/Neo multi generation. Mick just turned 2 yrs and has shown natural classic guarding, hunting, speed and endurance and at the same time calm, intelligent family dog traits of old school molosser/bulldogs that I had hoped for.

"an American writer known for the Little House on the Prairie series of children's books released from 1932 to 1943 which were based on her childhood in a settler and pioneer family.[1]"
Traditionally, they were kept as fierce guardians of the pioneer's homesteads that were far removed from civilization. Laura Ingalls Wilder's well known dog "Jack" was in fact a Brindle Bulldog that she wrote of as such. "Jack took his role as protector very seriously, which sometimes was more of a hindrance than a help, particularly in Indian Territory. Pa had to keep Jack tied up to prevent him from biting the Indians who sometimes visited the Ingalls home and causing trouble for the settlers. ... Her father's gun hung over the door and good old Jack, the Brindle Bulldog, lay on guard before it. Her father would say: 'Go to sleep Laura, Jack won't let the wolves in'." A hunting mastiff from a medieval french book. Usually produced by crossing mastiffs with sight hounds. Similar dogs called cuban blood hounds were used a few centuries later to put down slave revolts and run down fugitives in the Americas.

The above ancient alan is not so different from the blood hounds used to hunt fugitives in the Pre-civil war south

Spot the Blood Hound from Andersonville Prison

Poster for the Play "Uncle Tom's" Cabin. Hunting type mastiffs Chasing the escaped slave girl and her baby
Not historically accurate. Posters advertising 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' Showing escaped slave girl fleeing from the Blood Hounds during the era of slavery in the USA. In this case the blood hounds are called Siberian blood hounds. But at that time that name was probably not in use. From the theater poster "Broadside: Eliza's escape and pursuit by "imported trained Negro-hunting Siberian bloodhounds" from Grand majestic production! Superb revival!"
