Consider this the starter to a thread much like "Workout of the day".

I have made a committment to bring more of our Western culture back to my daily life, via music, drink, reading etc.

Todays Selections

Vivaldi's Four Seasons, OP8/2 Rev 315, Summer By the St. Petersburg Orchestra.

Holst OP32 Jupiter , Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

Some consider Vivaldi to be ear candy or the pop music of his day, but I like it. I'll add Beethoven's 9th Symphony for music and "To Kill a Mockingbird" as literature. Also " Atlas Shrugged". By the way, a few years ago I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and spend some time with Nathaniel Brandon - Ayn Rand's former lover. Among other things, he wrote a book titled, "The 6 Pillars of Self-Esteem" (I think it was 6, but don't have the book handy). He is appalled at the current concept of self-esteem - that it is something that can be given to someone by telling them how wonderful they are. He says self-esteem is something that we develop by actually doing what we say we will do; by our courage and our actions. I saw him again within the last couple of years and unfortunately he has had a stroke. He told me that it is very frustrating - he still knows what he knows, but his brain just won't put things together when he tries to express his thoughts. In spite of that, he was still a fascinating man.

Live, Laugh, Love. If that doesn't work, Load, Aim and Fire. (repeat as necessary)

If Jakob is in trouble with ABBA then my music definitely ain't "Bon Vivant" but nonetheless to me its "the good life"

Black Stone Cherry, Papa Roach, 3 Doors Down, Three Days Grace.

I've listened to John Cage's 4'33" several times this morning, and have been practicing playing it on the bagpipes all afternoon.

I am glad I live several states away. :P
Tonight's selection is Karl Richter playing Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor. Played in the Germanic style, but I am growing to appreciate it.

I have to say, when I was in the dating stage and saw my girlfriend had bagpipe recordings in her collection, she moved up...
