My ignorance is showing here, but how does the RMR mount on the slide? Is it an easy "at home" project or is a real gunsmith required? Do you need to buy the RMR mount from OST, like this one http://www.onesourcetactical.com/rmr-rmraccessoriesandmounts.aspx or is it already mounted to the slide?

EDIT: I was asking about the RMR ready Glock 19 slides on the pre buy that OST was listing.

A portion shaped like the RMR is actually milled out of the slide and mounting holes are drilled and tapped. The RMR them sits down in this lowered area, allowing co-witness with the raised suppressor sights.

On XD's and 1911's I believe an extra plate is required even for the milled area, but not on a Glock.

You can buy DIY mounts that fit the rear sight dovetail, but the sight will sit very high and co-witness won't be possible.

Excellent! So the pre-buy 19 will only require I buy the sight and not a mount as well.

Here is a pic of the milled out area on the G17 slide:

Thanks for the clairification. I didn't think the mount was needed on the Pre Buy 19 RMR ready slides, but wanted to verify.

If you buy the slide and sight from OST, you get it mounted properly right off the bat. The RMR is removable and you can remount it.
