I suppose this could be included under the "Food! The well fed warrior" thread, but then again, that one focuses on main courses, so I figure dessert merits its own thread. :yumyum:
So, what're y'all's favorite desserts? Here are mine:
Pumpkin pie (yes, I prefer it to apple pie, sacrilegous, I know...)
Tiramisu
Pistachio ice cream (Western-style and Indian khulfi version)
Japanese green tea ice cream (regular style and mochi)
Baclava
Okay, y'all's turn...

Hmmm.... Oreo cream pie, yeah I know.... But hey it is just one of those things that you could die eating it and be happy.... Past that the good Doctors Banana Pudding comes in second.....

Pecan pie from my grandmother's recipe and a scoop Bluebell vanilla! A tie would be homemade coconut cream pie and a good cup of dark roast coffee.
+1 to pecan pie.
And baklava and its other middle eastern cousins. mmmmmmmmmmm.

My mother in law's HOMEMADE coconut cake! She ruined me years ago. When I broke my back I had to get her to stop making them just for me as I was NOT losing weight.
She is good people and that may be why they taste as good as they do.
She is no slouch to pumpkin pie either.

My own Bourbon Pecan Pie. Just soak your pecans in your favorite bourbon for a few hours before making the pie. Add some chocolate chips if you want to change it up a bit.
Boston Cream Pie is a good one to order when out. Cherry Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream is another favorite of mine.
I have had to lay off all of these lately but hey, once in a while you have to treat yourself just a bit.

I love a good bread pudding, like Mom used to make....but so many people have corrupted it by adding all kinds of crap to it where it's not at all what I remember.
But....if you want my all time favorite, it's a homemade lemon meringue pie. And, I mean completely from scratch....piecrust, pie filling, and meringue. It can't be beat!

+1 to Mango with sweet sticky rice and coconut milk. Must be someplace like the PI or Thailand, though...I've never had a Mango stateside that even compared.
Cassada cake with creme coffee.
Hula pie at Duke's in Waikiki.

The greatest thing I've ever put in my mouth...mint chocolate cheesecake. My mother in law made it for my birthday:

My mother's Chocolate Chess Pie, Glenda's Italian Creme Cake, and my bride's Calories Galore. Calories Galore has a pecan pie crust filled with chocolate pudding and topped with a cream cheese whipped topping. Oh yeah, my oldest sister makes an awesome Chocolate Meringue Pie! My brother has mastered the art of the Chocolate Chess Pie, but alas, I have not.

To be true to my Southern heritage, you should trust me on this:....
....Sweet Potato Pie and Buttermilk Pie; true Southern delights. Don't ask which is my favorite - whichever is closest.

I just like dessert in general. I think maybe my favorites aren't really because of the desserts but the memories attached to them.
I love the Greek desserts my friend Marina makes.
I love Tiramisu- my Mom and I went to Italy
I LOVE Cape Velvet- it's an South African dessert that I had when my Dad took me with him. Best time of my life. Nothing beats cape velvet but I'm not sure if it's the taste or the memories! (It was also the first time I got drunk as I wouldn't stop eating it and it's topped with a liquer :mischievous:)

I'm struck by the number of pecan pie fans!
Also love brownies and chocolate chip cookies. And the simple "cake doughnut" – oh yeah and the bear claw.
The cannoli is great too! I first had one in New Orleans. I didn't know what they were, but my friends kept saying "We have got to go to (forget the place) and get some cannoli!"

Gents Thats one great list and I be proud to have seconds on any of it. But my favorites are my wifes pumkin pie followed by her cheese cake with her Flan in a tight Third. Forthly is the Market's bread pudding w/bourbon sauce, try as she does, she can't match it yet. Followed by some good conversation and fluid digestive, what more could a man want?
